We are delighted with our new beautiful backyard that Landscapes by Davids helped create for us. From the very first meeting, my husband and I felt both excited and comfortable working with both David Niles and David Boone. We loved how they took our ideas and expanded on them to create what is now a wonderful backyard. We really enjoyed their employees who are hard workers, very polite, and who cleaned up every evening before they went home. We loved that one of "the Davids" was on site most days to check on progress, to let us know what was coming next, and to troubleshoot any issues. They especially excelled at coordinating with other professionals, be it electricians, hot tub people, etc., to make the process seamless for us. We feel that they gave us a very realistic estimate of time, effort, and cost from the very beginning and continued to communicate with us throughout the process about how any changes that either the Davids or we suggested would impact that, which I appreciated. Now that the yard has started to mature, we are spending so much more time in our backyard enjoying the lovely fire pit and the colorful plants. We can't recommend the David's strongly enough.

They were meticulous in planning and sourced the finest available trees and plants. We appreciated their expert knowledge on native plants and draught tolerant options. Their team and installation crew was courteous and professional at all times. They also custom designed a feature wall of Spanish style tile with complimentary water feature. This was expertly designed with careful attention to symmetrical considerations for tile placement and wall feature borders. Quality was of highest priority as they installed irrigation systems and also sourced planters. Our project was completed ahead of schedule. It has been amazing to see the growth and development in all of the plantings just weeks after completion. Landscapes by Davids did a wonderful job landscaping my yard--beauty met functionality. David Niles is a true visionary on design, but flexible, accessible and responsive regarding adjustments. I really liked that he could easily reimagine if necessary as the project proceeded. David Boone was equally good in his areas of expertise involving infrastructure, primarily electrical, irrigation, gas, overseeing stonework, etc. I've never had an irrigation system work so well! The crew was terrific, very hard workers. And I chose to continue with their maintenance services as well, who are also doing a great job. At my first meeting with David Niles, he envisioned a more contemporary look to complement my mid-century ranch style house and give my long corner lot a more cohesive feel, which is exactly what I was looking for. From conceptual plan to landscape completion, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome and how smoothly the project proceeded. I love the selection of plants, which are all drought-tolerant, and how there’s a natural flow to the landscaping that achieves that cohesiveness. The Davids replaced the driveway and front walk with pavers that add to the overall look, and improved the drainage and access along the side of my house by adding a stone retaining wall and walkway with proper drainage. (One example of their team's attention to detail is that we asked them to hang a wire so that we could string lights and they not only hung the wire but they also painted it to match the environment and basically become invisible). During the build the owners made frequent site visits and would make slight tweaks here and there that were always for the best. 

Landscapes by Davids delivered a beautiful, and high quality backyard meeting and exceeding all of our functional and design requirements on time and on budget. We could not be happier with their work product and look forward to working with them on our front yard someday soon!

The Davids have been our landscapers since we purchased our home in 2012. They designed and built our fabulous drought-tolerant gardens several years earlier and had continued to maintain them at the highest level. So it was no surprise that we asked them to continue. Over the last several years, we've done some work, but primarily maintained what they had installed. Recently, however, we decided to spruce things up a bit. We worked with David Niles and David Boone to install a fountain, freshen up several planters and replace a number of overground shrubs and trees with new birds of paradise, bamboo, palms etc... Their advice, eye for design, flexibility and commitment to quality are top-notch. Their crew are all hard-working, polite and detail-oriented. The entire project was about 5 days of work but spanned 2 weeks due to rainy weather. Throughout, we were kept informed of the status and both they and we suggested slight modifications along the way. We have found them to be extremely professional, easy to work with and reliable. After several years of looking at our dry backyard, my husband and I decided to undertake a renovation project. We selected Landscapes by Davids for our renovation upon recommendations from coworkers, and all our expectations were surpassed. David Niles created a detailed vision from our wishes for an outdoor space with barbecue/TV/dining area, fire pit, bocce court, raised garden beds, citrus trees and updated planters. Together with David Boone, they drew up a timeline and cost estimate for the project. They gave exceptional attention to our project, being on site most days and responding to questions or concerns within hours. They are highly professional and the expert suggestions they made provided improvements we did not think to include, such as expanding the size of the patio for a bigger dining area. They were extremely easy to work with, and incorporated our modifications as the project moves along. We chose an artificial grass that will remain lush and green for many years with low maintenance, and added in a putting green as well! 
The workers were polite, clean and efficient. The work was of the highest quality. The timeline and cost projections were transparent, reasonable and on target. We have a yard outside a picture window which had never been landscaped. We hired Landscapes by Davids upon referral of a friend (and seeing her beautiful yard). My husband and I connected with them immediately, and they created a gorgeous drought- tolerant flowering woodland garden. They built a low sandstone wall, a path through the garden, and filled it with grasses and flowering plants of yellow, orange, blue and purple. We added a teak bench, and have been enjoying sitting out there at sunset. The birds, bees and butterflies have already found our new garden!  Both Davids were extremely responsive, and always available to answer our questions. We are thrilled with the work of Landscapes by Davids, from inception to execution.

Our project: envision a plan for our large and wild and hilly back yard to include a zen (rock) garden. David initially sketched a preliminary plan as the basis for discussion before drawing up a detailed plan and cost estimate based on my reaction to his sketch. In the detailed plan, he included possible plantings for each area that gave me a chance to react to those choices. When the project began, I was told that the work would take 4 weeks. In fact, it took 4 weeks less a day or two! We often had questions/concerns along the way and David was there often in minutes to discuss the concerns. He is not easily derailed from his artistic vision (about which he feels passionately!) but he is also very willing to talk about option and to listen. We were in need of transformative guidance on our property. While we always knew our property had good "bones", we were not able to concieve or agree on how to maximize privacy and convenience while maintaining our view. Additionally, it was always difficult for guests, deliveries, etc to find our front door. David developed a plan for receiving guests to our home. It may be my imagination but I believe the delivery drivers actually enjoy the trip from the truck to our front door through our new front garden (before there was no telling where our packages would end up). David took the time to get to know what was important to us and create a wonderful entrance garden for our property. The Davids and their team worked with us at all stages to ensure that the garden was coming along as we hoped. Their crew was exceptionally neat and tidy. The job site was well organized and the crew was very respectful of our privacy. I would definitely describe the job as first class and certainly minimized much of the stress of having a large project done at our home. After living in our home for 17 years and not being able to utilize the large backyard due to its poor layout, we decided to call Landscapes by Davids and begin the process of design and installation of a new outdoor living space. It turned out to be the best decision we've made as homeowners! Our backyard was overgrown and unusable when we hired LBD to transform it into a space we could enjoy. The end result is a beautiful Mediterranean-style garden that we could not have envisioned or created on our own. It has transformed the way we live in and enjoy our home every day. The Davids' approach is a collaborative one that is thoughtfully executed with help from their professional team of workers. We had a large arbor constructed over a paver stone patio that serves as a foundation for relaxing, eating and entertaining. We created a cozy seating area under the arbor, and it has become the hub of our outdoor activities. Low, stone walls were built, using existing stones we had on hand, to create a breathtaking focal point that separates the upper and lower terraces. The craftsmanship that went into building the stone walls was so artful, in addition to being a solid visual anchor to the space, they are just beautiful to look at. We liked them so much that we had LBD restore a low rock wall along the perimeter side yard that was crumbling with age. They have a talent for repurposing existing materials and incorporating them into the new design. Old wooden columns that previously supported a small pergola on the property were salvaged and given new life as graceful arches on the upper terrace, now draped with pink jasmine. Pieces from the past beautifully preserved. Thoughtfully designed planting beds contain many drought-tolerant, low maintenance plants. An irrigation system and landscape lighting were also included. Flagstone and gravel fill in the open walking paths. An herb garden for year-round for cooking gives us many wonderful fragrances of lavender, basil, thyme, and oregano. The Davids' expertise also extends to the finishing touches of a project. When it came time to select lighting features, a fountain, and terra cotta pots to hold succulents, the Davids were there to offer advice on product selection and placement in the space for an overall, cohesive result. They consider the atmosphere the client wishes to create, and then skillfully endeavor to marry elements of color, texture, design, and use of space to achieve a harmonious outcome. It was a thrilling experience to watch our outdoor space come to life. Our garden was redone seven years ago, but it still feels new, it still surprises us. We marvel at the changes, how it evolves, and yet is so wonderfully permanent. Friends and family who were stunned by the improvements have gone on to hire LBD for their own outdoor projects. Our home is a small, 1920's Santa Barbara mission revival bungalow, a little piece of local history. We feel by investing in the outdoor space we have restored it to its past glory and preserved it for future generations to enjoy. It was a pleasure working with a firm as talented and professional as Landscapes by Davids, and well worth the money spent. With our year-round climate in SB, the changes have doubled our living space and we use our backyard all the time now, still enamored with the design and all the details that make it special. Working with Landscapes by Davids will ensure our garden continues to blossom for the next 100 years!

needed to redo all of the landscaping on our property of over an acre. We could not have been happier. The Davids were very easy to work with. The front yard had at one time been grass, but after years of drought and neglect was basically just dusty dirt. The house now has much better "curb appeal". In the back yard, they removed gravel which was hard to maintain and installed more artificial turf. They added some drought-tolerant plants along the foundation and in mulched beds. The work was done efficiently and with a minimum of disruption. We feel that we got good value for our money. David offered us an economical weekly maintenance program which we will use going forward. David was timely keeping appointments and communication was good.

We would recommend Landscapes By Davids without hesitation. This company has been first-class in terms of their customer service and quality of work. They completed a beautiful backyard project and switched our entire irrigation system to a drip system. The work done during this job was excellent. We had all of this work done two months prior to the Thomas fire. Due to the location of our home, the fire and mudslides damage several areas of the irrigation system and the new lawn. Landscapes By Davids replaced the entire lawn and fixed all of the irrigation burns in a one-week period because they knew we were hosting a party in our backyard and were under tight time constraints. This level of service is simply unheard of and we are so thankful for their expert work and responsiveness!
